GIGSPACE

Tenant

“GigSpace could have a very important cultural role in the future of musical creativity in Ottawa.” Jan Järvlepp

The GigSpace mandate is to enlighten, inspire, educate and promote music and musicians in a supportive and creative atmosphere. We reach out to our audiences and engage the community through concerts, masterclasses, workshops and music education courses.

GigSpace Performance Studio was designed to provide musicians with an opportunity to perform in an intimate listening environment while allowing them to focus on their craft, interact with the audience and give truly brilliant performances. This space was created for musicians by musicians.

GigSpace is an initiative of the Ottawa Live Arts Community, a non-profit registered charitable organization.

Collaborator

Radical Connections is a non-profit corporation, working at the intersection of arts and health. Our programs and activities humanize healthcare and improve wellbeing for people in care through music, poetry, visual arts, and theatre. We define “people in care” as patients in hospitals, residents in long-term care and retirement homes, and people receiving assistance for their healthcare needs in their homes.

Wellness, for all, involves the opportunity to play, create and make choices. People in care need those same opportunities. Participation in the arts brings joy and connection; it demonstrates that people receiving care are much more than their medical conditions. Elder care needs radical transformation. With our help, elders and everyone in healthcare can share their wisdom and enjoy arts and culture. People experiencing mental or physical distress should be surrounded by healing environments. We bring meaningful arts connections into care settings.
